What We Do in the Shadows fame Harvey Guillén has been added to the cast of Catherine Hardwicke's Street Smart.

A drama, Street Smart, is set to take Hardwicke back to her storytelling origins with Thirteen and Lords of Dogtown, even as she revisits her work on found-family dynamics like Twilight. Nic Sheff, a New York Times bestselling author and screenwriter known for 13 Reasons Why, has co-written the film with Hardwicke.

Production on Street Smart commenced in Los Angeles at the end of January with Hardwicke and producers Natalie Marciano and Jamie R Thompson. Set in a popular beach town in Venice, CA, Street Smart will revolve around a jovial group of houseless young adults. They get together with comedy and vigilante-style theft, creating unbreakable bonds and inking new definitions for family.

Street Smart will also feature Isabelle Fuhrman, Yara Shahidi, Michael Cimino, Daniel Zovatto, Kaitlyn Kemp, Miles McKenna, and pro skateboarder Isiah Hilt. The film's technical crew comprises cinematographer Elliot Davis, who reunites with Hardwicke, costume designer Mona May, and music supervisor Chris Douridas.

Production banners backing Street Smart are Poster Child Pictures and New Dimensions. Gerard Butler and Alan Siegel of G-BASE, Jamie Marshall, Furhman, Zovatto, David Lasky, Michael Arata, and Rebel Entertainment’s Rock Jacobs and Batia Parnass serve as executive producers.

Guillén, last seen in Companion, has Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Road Trip in the pipeline.
