Actor Brad Pitt and director Joseph Kosinski's action film F1 opened to positive reviews from audiences and critics. In India, the film minted about 7 crore on Friday and Saturday so far, according to data from Sacnilk. In the US, from around 3,500 screens, the film has earned more than $55 million, according to a Deadline report. F1 follows a former Formula One driver (Pitt) who returns from retirement to mentor and team up with a rookie (Damson Idris). Javier Bardem and Kerry Condon also star in the film.

Many real-life Formula One drivers are also part of the film as themselves, including Max Verstappen, Lewis Hamilton, Lando Norris, and Fernando Alonso, among others. They worked with the actors to achieve the realism necessary for the film. Hamilton helped Ehren Kruger to write the screenplay, and he has been involved in production through his banner Dawn Apollo Films. The film is partly shot at real locations, including the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the British Grand Prix, and the 24 Hours of Daytona race.

In our review of the film, Prashanth Vallavan wrote, "F1 is a simple and neatly structured sports drama with familiar character tropes but it still adds enough freshness into the mix to make us care about what happens beyond the tracks."

F1 reunites Kosinski with his Top Gun: Maverick screenwriter Kruger.
