Days after Ryan Coogler confirmed that he is writing a screenplay for Black Panther 3 with Denzel Washington part of the cast, there have been rumours about the additional actors in the film. In a recent interview with the show Today, host Craig Melvin asked Damson Idris about whether he has been in talks with Marvel Studios over a role in the Coogler directorial. Idris neither confirmed the speculation nor dismissed it outright. He initially said that he is in contact with the studio but then implied that it could still "mean no". The actor, however, clarified that he would accept an offer for a role in the film from Marvel Studios. During Gladiator II promotions last November, Washington revealed that the film's makers are thinking about casting him. It was a slip of tongue. Later, Coogler confirmed that he is writing a part for Washington.

He is set to portray Prince Inan in filmmaker Gina Prince-Bythewood's novelist Tomi Adeyemi’s Children of Blood and Bone. The actor also has the period romance feature Miles and Juliette, where he plays musician Miles Davis opposite Anamaria Vartolomei, who stars as singer-actor Juliette Greco.
