Two-time Emmy award-winner writer Ashley Nicole Black has been tapped to pen the script of the sequel to Octavia Spencer's revenge flick Ma. The Blumhouse film was recently announced at the Business of Fear symposium, where it was made official that Spencer will return to headline the film.

However, there is no official word yet on who will helm the film. The 2019 film, which grossed over $60 million worldwide, follows Spencer as Sue Ann, a comely middle-aged woman who befriends a group of teens and invites them to a party in her basement, only to reveal her darker side.

Known for writing Shrinking and Ted Lasso, Black is a writer, actor and comedian, who received NAACP Award nominations for Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series and later for Shrinking under the same category. In Shrinking, where she also served as an executive producer, recurs as Nikki. Her other works include Apple's Bad Monkey and HBO's A Black Lady Sketch Show.
