
Actors Regina Hall, Sherry Cola, Arturo Castro, George Lopez and Ice Spice have onboarded the cast of Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Animation's upcoming Spongebob movie titled The SpongeBob Movie: Search For SquarePants. The makers have also announced that the award-winning rapper will also sing an original song for the film.
The film will see the return of Tom Kenny who is set to voice SpongeBob SquarePants, Clancy Brown as Mr. Krabs, Rodger Bumpass as Squidward, Bill Fagerbakke as Patrick, Carolyn Lawrence as Sandy and Mr. Lawrence as Plankton.
The SpongeBob Movie: Search For SquarePants will revolve around SpongeBob and his friends going to the depths of the ocean to face the ghost of the Flying Dutchman.
Ramsey Naito, President of Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Animation unveiled the casting during the Annecy International Animation Film Festival. The event also had sneak peeks of a few films shown including Smurfs movie, PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie, The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem 2.
The film is based on SpongeBob SquarePants series and is created by Stephen Hillenburg. Its screenplay was written by Pam Brady and Matt Lieberman.
The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants is backed by Paramount Pictures with Nickelodeon Movies in association with Domain Entertainment and MRC and is scheduled to be released in theatres in the US on December 19.
