
Apple TV+ has released the first teaser of Matthew McConaughey- starrer The Lost Bus - a survival drama that promises to be an emotionally intense story that unravels itself amidst the deadly California's 2018 Camp fire.
The 1.16-minute-long teaser for the film, directed by Paul Greengrass, Matthew McConaughey plays Kevin McCay, a school bus driver who gets an emergency call asking if a driver could help 23 stranded kids and their teacher Mary Ludwig (America Ferrera). After a few moments of hesitation McCay picks up the call to volunteer for the deadly mission. We see a few seconds of America Ferrera's character gasping for air while McCay's bus zooms past the raging wildfire.
Apart from McConaughey and Ferrera, the cast of the film also has Yul Vazquez, Ashlie Atkinson and Spencer Watson in prominent roles. A release date is yet to be announced by the makers.
Based on a book Paradise: One Town’s Struggle to Survive an American Wildfire by Lizzie Johnson, the film chronicles the deadliest wildfire recorded in California where almost 86 people died and almost 150,000 acres of trees were ravaged. The film is co-written by Greengrass and Brad Inglesby.
Paul Greengrass is known for films like The Bourne Supremacy, United 93, The Bourne Ultimatum, Green Zone, Captain Phillips and Jason Bourne, among others.
The Lost Bus is backed by Ingelsby, Gregory Goodman, Jason Blum for Blumhouse Productions. Actor Jamie Lee Curtis also produces via Comet Pictures, and Johnson serves as the executive producer.
