Oscar-winning powerhouse Viola Davis is set to star in and produce Ally Clark, an upcoming thriller currently in development at Amazon MGM Studios. The project marks a reunion between Davis and the studio, following the success of G20.
Described as a high-stakes investigative thriller, Ally Clark follows its titular character, played by Davis, as she navigates a treacherous trail stretching from the polished corridors of Washington, D.C., to the murky bayous of Louisiana and the frozen frontiers of Alaska. The plot centres on Clark’s investigation into a powerful international conglomerate in the wake of a close friend’s suspicious death.
The film will be helmed by veteran director Phillip Noyce, whose credits include Salt, Clear and Present Danger, and The Quiet American. The script is penned by Jose Ruisanchez and Irwin Winkler, the Oscar-winning producer behind Rocky.
In addition to Davis, the producing team includes Irwin Winkler, Charles Winkler, David Winkler, and Jose Ruisanchez for Winkler Films. Davis is also producing under her banner, JuVee Productions, alongside Julius Tennon, with Melanie Clark on board as executive producer.
Davis continues her winning streak following recent roles in The Woman King, Air, and The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Looking ahead, she’s also part of Paramount’s adaptation of Tomi Adeyemi’s Children of Blood and Bone, directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood. Noyce, meanwhile, recently directed Fast Charlie starring Pierce Brosnan and Morena Baccarin.
