Samuel L Jackson to star in Tulsa King spinoff NOLA King

A spinoff of Sylvester Stallone's hit series Tulsa King titled NOLA King is in development at Paramount+ and Samuel L Jackson is set to onboard the project as the lead. Before headlining his own series, Jackson is expected to appear in several episodes of the third season of Tulsa King.

While details of his role are unclear, Jackson is set to play Russell Lee Washington Jr., a character akin to Stallone's Dwight, has a background related to the criminal world who will go against Dwight in Tulsa before going to New Orleans.

Dave Erickson, who has worked with Taylor Sheridan on Tulsa King and Mayor of Kingstown, is the writer, showrunner, and executive producer on NOLA King. Apart from leading the series, Jackson will also executive produce along with David C. Glasser of 101 Studios. MTV Entertainment Studios is backing the film.

Filming for season 3 of Tulsa King is ongoing in Atlanta and Oklahoma for a couple of months with Jackson beginning to film his portions in July. NOLA King is scheduled to go on floors in February 2026.

Tulsa King centers on New York mob capo Dwight (played by Sylvester Stallone), who is released from prison after serving 25 years, only to be abruptly sent by his boss to establish operations in Tulsa, Oklahoma. As Dwight begins to suspect that his mafia family has turned its back on him, he assembles a crew of unexpected allies to help him build a new criminal empire in a city that feels completely foreign to him.

Widely regarded as one of the most acclaimed actors of his generation, Samuel L Jackson earned an Academy Award nomination for his breakout performance in Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction. He has since collaborated with Tarantino on several other films, including Jackie Brown, Django Unchained, and The Hateful Eight.

He is widely recognized for portraying Nick Fury in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a role he's reprised in both films and television. Most recently, he appeared in the Peacock limited series Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist.
