The Care Bears are coming to grace the screens once again in a new feature film directed by Josh Greenbaum, best known for his Will & Harper documentary, and movies like Strays (2023) and Barb and Star Go To Vista Del Mar (2021).

Plot details for the upcoming film have not been revealed yet. The film is backed by Chris Bender and Jake Weiner for Good Fear and Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley for GoldDay. Sean Gorman and Daniel Barnes serve as executive producers for Cloudco.

Care Bears began as characters created by American Greetings (now Cloudco Entertainment) for greeting cards in the 1980s, each uniquely colored and marked with a “belly badge” representing emotions and positive traits—like Tenderheart Bear, Cheer Bear, and Grumpy Bear. They were created by Elena Kucharik and Linda Denham.

Their popularity led to a toy line, animated TV specials, and a classic cartoon series that aired from 1985 to 1988, followed by three theatrical films. The 1985 animated film The Care Bears Movie featured Mickey Rooney among the voice cast. The franchise has seen multiple revivals over the years, with new TV adaptations emerging in the 2000s, 2010s, and most recently in 2019 with Care Bears: Unlock the Magic.
