Ryan Coogler's Sinners, starring Michael B Jordan in the lead role, continues to be in discussion on social media and film circles long after its release on OTT, with viewers expecting a sequel for the film. However, Coogler has dismissed these speculations, stating that he never thought of making a follow-up to Sinners.

"I've been in a space of making franchise films for a bit, so I wanted to get away from that. I was looking forward to working on a film that felt original and personal to me and had an appetite for delivering something to audiences that was original and unique," said Coogler, in an interview with Ebony magazine.

The director, who has earlier helmed similar blockbusters like Black Panther and Creed, underlined that he wanted to make the film "holistic" that felt like a "full meal". "Your appetizers, starters, entrees and desserts...I wanted all of it there. I wanted it to be a holistic and finished thing. That was how I was asked all about it. That was always my intention," he further said.

Sinners Movie Review: Rousing, layered and thoroughly entertaining

In a recent interview with Variety, the director elaborated how the film is in line with the kind of films he likes. "This film (Sinners) is very much me. I love anything supernatural. I'm in. I like stories about communities, about neighbourhoods, about archetypes. And I love period anything. So, when you layer those things together, that does it for me," he said.

Set in 1932 Mississippi Delta, the film stars Michael B Jordan in dual roles. As the twins return to their home in Mississippi to open a music hall, they find their new business under siege by a horde of vampires. The film was critically and commercially well received, earning over $350 million at the global box office.

The film co-stars Hailee Steinfeld, Miles Caton, Jack O'Connell, Wunmi Mosaku, Jayme Lawson, Omar Miller, and Delroy Lindo.
