Bong Joon Ho's ambitious science-fiction film Mickey 17 is set to release on August 07 on JioHotstar. The OTT platform is yet to announce the release date through its official social media handles, but the streamer's website lists the film as one of its upcoming titles. The Bong Joon Ho directorial stars Robert Pattinson in a dual role, as "Expendables" on a mission to turn a ice world into a colony. In the film, Pattinson's character gets replicated over and over again until he completes the mission.

The film explores profound themes of enslavement, capitalism, rebirth, and more. In CE's review of the film, Prashanth Vallavan wrote, "While Mickey 17 is a direct satire on capitalism and its dehumanisation of the working class, the film shines through by showing us how the system is stacked in a way that makes it easy for the powerful to dehumanise the powerless and for themselves to internalise it."

Described as a blend of satirical and science-fiction elements, Mickey 17 also stars Naomi Ackie, Steven Yeun, Mark Ruffalo, and Toni Collette. The film earned mostly positive reviews and reportedly earned more than $110 million at the box office. It is Bong Joon Ho's third film in English after 2013's Snowpiercer and 2017's Okja.
