The much-awaited reimagining of Steve McQueen's classic, The Thomas Crwn Affair, is one actor less with the exit of actor Taylor Russell.

According to Deadline, the actor has stepped out of the project due to creative differences, and the studio is actively scouting for a replacement for her role as the film's production is progressing in London.

Russell was set to play opposite Michael B Jordan in the role of an insurance investigator, who develops an interest towards the banking executive upon suspecting he is pulling off some ambitious heists. Faye Dunaway was cast in the role in the 1968 original, opposite McQueen, while Rene Russo starred opposite Pierce Brosnan in the 1999 version.

Having made her stage debut recently with Jamie Lloyd's The Effect, Russell's next up is Na Hong-jin's Korean thriller Hope, opposite Michael Fassbender, Hoyeon and Alicia Vikander. Also in the pipeline for her is the Frank Ocean film, where she stars opposite David Johnson. She is also being considered for a role opposite Jenna Ortega in a remake of Single White Female for Sony.

The Thomas Crown Affair, which also stars Kenneth Branagh, Lily Gladstone, and Danai Gurira, is Michael B Jordan's second directorial feature after Creed III, where he reprised the role of Adonis Creed. Jordan will produce The Thomas Crown Affair under his Outlier Society banner. Charles Roven, a longtime collaborator of Christopher Nolan, will also produce the film under his Atlas Entertainment banner. Amazon MGM Studios is behind the film.

The Thomas Crown Affair will have a release on March 5, 2027.
