Joining Daisy Edgar-Jones in the new adaptation of Sense and Sensibility is Esme Creed-Miles of The Sandman fame.

Made by Focus Features and Working Title Films, Miles will portray Marianne Dashwood and Edgar-Jones will portray Elinor Dashwood. In the 1995 film directed by Ang Lee, Kate Winslet starred as Marianne and Emma Thompson as Elinor.

Miles made her debut in films as a child actor with Mister Lonely (2007), as Shirley Temple. She also has her acting credits Dark River (2017), Silver Haze (2023), and The Chronology of Water (2025). In addition to The Sandman, her television credits include Hanna (2019-2021), The Legend of Vox Machina (2022), and The Doll Factory (2023).

The latest adaptation will be directed by Georgia Oakley from a script by bestselling author Diana Reid.

This is the second Jane Austen adaptation that Focus and Working Title are collaborating on after their first one Pride & Prejudice (2005), starring Keira Knightley, Rosamund Pike, Matthew Macfadyen, Carey Mulligan, Donald Sutherland, Jena Malone, and Kelly Reilly.

Austen's book follows sisters Elinor and Marianne Dashwood, who are opposites, as they navigate love and loss (financial or otherwise) in 18th-century England.
