In March, Mindy Kaling’s Netflix series, Running Point, was renewed for season 2. Now, as per new reports, the Kate Hudson comedy series is all set to go on floors in August, with the first day of shooting planned for August 11. With a schedule planned until November, the series is set to be shot in Los Angeles, California, where the first season was also shot.
Netflix is yet to confirm the news. With this filming schedule, Running Point season 2 is now expected to return to Netflix in the first half of 2026. The first season of the ten-part series hit the streamer on February 27 this year.
The official logline of the first season of Running Point reads, “When a scandal forces her brother to resign, Isla Gordon (Hudson) is appointed president of the Los Angeles Waves, one of the most storied professional basketball franchises, and her family business. Ambitious and often overlooked, Isla will have to prove to her sceptical brothers, the board, and the larger sports community that she was the right choice for the job, especially in the unpredictable, male-dominated world of sports.” Plot details of the second season are yet to be disclosed.
Upon being renewed for the second season, Mindy Kaling previously said, “We are so thrilled to be able to deliver a Season 2 of Running Point to the fans of the show. We still cannot believe the response from audiences—thank you to everyone who has watched!"
Apart from Hudson, the series also starred Brenda Song, Drew Tarver, Scott MacArthur, Fabrizio Guido, Toby Sandeman, Chet Hanks, Jay Ellis, Max Greenfield, Justin Theroux, Keyla Monterroso Mejia, Roberto Sanchez, Uche Agada, and Dane DiLiegro.
The series is also written by Kaling, Barinholtz, and David Stassen. Mindy Kaling produces under her Kaling International in association with Warner Bros. Television, where Kaling is under an overall deal. Stassen serves as the showrunner.
