The third and final season of The Summer I Turned Pretty is gearing up to premiere on Prime Video on July 16. Jenny Han, the author of the trilogy on which the series is based, who also serves as the creator of the series, has opened up about what to expect from the finale.
Providing a disclaimer to the readers of the book, Han has mentioned that there are some surprising instances in the series that might be unknown to those who have read the books.
According to a report on PTI, the author said, "There are a couple of moments that people really love from the books that I knew that people were wanting to see. (But some moments) might not always happen in the way that you're expecting. I wanted to make sure that I was going to really service those fans who've been following the story for a really long time."
The Summer I Turned Pretty features Lola Tung as the protagonist Belly. About the upcoming season, she said, "There is heartache that comes with big love stories and complicated love stories, and I hope they are satisfied with the stories and the journeys because Jenny did such a good job with it, and we had so much fun filming it, and I feel very proud of it."
About saying goodbye to the series, she added, "There's so much weight and so many feelings, and we keep saying bittersweet, but it's the truth. I started it when I was 18, and now I am 22, and it changed my life, and I think it changed all of our lives, and I'll look back at it really fondly."
The official synopsis of the third season reads, “It’s the end of her junior year of college, and Belly’s looking forward to another summer in Cousins with her soulmate, Jeremiah. Her future seems set until some core-shaking events bring her first love, Conrad, back into her life. Now on the brink of adulthood, Belly finds herself at a crossroads and must decide which brother has her heart. Summer will never be the same…”
The Summer I Turned Pretty is a multigenerational drama exploring a love triangle involving a girl and two brothers. Set over the course of a summer, the series is also a coming-of-age story. The show also features Gavin Casalegno, Christopher Briney, Jackie Chung, Rain Spencer, David Lacono, and Alfredo Narciso.
