Jurassic World Rebirth is roaring off to a great start at the box office. At the end of the first day, the Gareth Edwards' film starring Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, and Mahershala Ali in lead roles, earned over Rs 9 crore in India, according to Sacnilk. With positive word-of-mouth and reviews from critics, the sci-fi thriller is expected to continue its winning streak at the box office. Worldwide, the film has breached the $100 million mark.
Fans of the franchise thronged theatres on the first day pushing its performance farther than Brad Pitt's F1 movie. It had also outperformed Kajol's Maa, Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par and Anurag Basu's Metro In Dino.
Our CE review of the film read, "Jurassic World: Rebirth is a film that returns to the strengths of the original Jurassic Park film. It is refreshing not to see mercenaries and armed men subjugate this ancient creature. But that alone doesn't make a strong case for the continuity of this franchise. The film refrains from committing the mistakes of its predecessors, but it also doesn't introduce anything earth-shattering or uncharted."
Set five years after Jurassic World Dominion, the film is set in an Earth which has become inhospitable to dinosaurs. A team goes into Isla Nublar to find the three largest dinosaurs to synthesise a drug that will prove beneficial to humans. It is the seventh film in the 31-year-old franchise.
Rupert Friend, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Luna Blaise, David Iacono, Audrina Miranda, Philippine Velge, Bechir Sylvain, and Ed Skrein also play prominent roles in the film.
The film is based on characters created by Michael Crichton, with the script of the film written by David Koepp.
