Netflix unveiled the trailer for their upcoming series, Apple Cider Vinegar, on Tuesday. Starring Kaitlyn Dever, Aisha Dee, and Alycia Debnam-Carey in lead roles, the series is all set to premiere on the platform on February 6.
The series is said to be loosely based on the life of Belle Gibson, the disgraced Australian wellness master with a massive social media following. She claimed to be suffering from cancer, but her health and wellness kept her illness in check. Later on, she confessed that all of it was made up.
The official synopsis of Apple Cider Vinegar reads, "Set at the birth of Instagram, Apple Cider Vinegar follows two young women who set out to cure their life-threatening illnesses through health and wellness, influencing their global online communities along the way. All of which would be incredibly inspiring if it were all true. This is a true-ish story based on a lie about the rise and fall of a wellness empire; the culture that built it up and the people who tore it down."
Award-winning Australian writer Samantha Strauss, known for Nine Perfect Strangers, has created the upcoming series. She has co-written the show along with Anya Beyersdorf and Angela Betzien. Apple Cider Vinegar is helmed by Jefferey Walker. Tilda Cobham-Hervey, Ashley Zukerman, and Mark Coles Smith are also a part of the cast.
