Sony Pictures Entertainment dropped a first-look video for Until Dawn, the video game-based film, starring Peter Stormare and Ella Rubin in the lead. The video gives a first look at some of the film's characters as well as features its actor Stormare, co-writer Gary Dauberman, and director David F Sandberg talking about the game and the film. At the start, one of the film's two writers, Dauberman says, "I am a huge fan of the Until Dawn game and how cinematic it was. I thought a lot about how we can continue the story without just giving the audience the same experience that they got when they were playing."
Then, director Sandberg states, "The movie has sort of the same tone and the same vibe (as the game), but it expands upon the universe." He later adds, "One of the creative things the game did is that people make different choices and die in different ways. The movie has this mechanic where things start over and they get to try again. Every time they come back to life, it is like they are in a new horror genre. To survive, they have to make it until dawn.
Actor Stormare, who plays a character named Hill in the film, shares, "I am very proud to be part of this evolution (of the game) on to the screen."
Featuring Blair Butler as the other writer, the film also stars Odessa A'zion, Michael Cimino, Ji-young Yoo, Maia Mitchell, and Belmont Cameli.
Until Dawn is slated for an April 25, 2025, release in theatres.
