Editor John F Burnett has passed away in Lincoln, California, on October 24 last year, his producer-cinematographer son John Earl Burnett informed to The Hollywood Reporter. Burnett is known for his work on films such as Grease, Murder by Death, and And Justice for All. He also worked on films of directors such as Blake Edwards, Sydney Pollack, and George Cukor. He helped Cukor on his film The Chapman Report, worked with Bill Ziegler for Cukor's film My Fair Lady, and edited the filmmaker's last film Love Among the Ruins and Rich and Famous starring Laurence Olivier-Katharine Hepburn.
“He would take what a director gave him—and Cukor gave him thousands of thousands of feet a day because he did everything from the top—and he just had this way of putting it together,” John Earl Burnett said to CineMontage.
John F Burnett is also survived by his sibling David and son Stephen.
