Speculation about the reemergence of an old feud between Fast and Furious franchise stars Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson has been rife following the former's cryptic opening to his Golden Globe speech. As he came to present the award Cinematic and Box Office Achievement, Vin Diesel first said, "Hi Dwayne," with a mysterious smile and a gaze at Johnson. Subsequently, Johnson gave half a smile and gazed back at Diesel in an awkward way. However, Diesel has quashed the speculation with an Instagram post, featuring a photograph of the two from their Fast Five premiere at Rio that he captioned, "All love… Always." Johnson is yet to respond to the post, though.
It has not always been all love between them. Rumours about a friction between them were around since Johnson signed up for Fast Five. It reached a crescendo in 2016 when Johnson called out some of his male colleagues from franchise for their lack of bravery with a derogatory word on Instagram, while appreciating his female co-stars. Later, Johnson told Rolling Stone that he used the said word specifically against Diesel.
“We have a fundamental difference in philosophies on how we approach moviemaking and collaborating,” said Johnson.
In any case, all of this seems water under the bridge as Diesel himself has come out expressing his love for his Fast Five co-star.
