Bruce Springsteen has given his stamp of approval to Jeremy Allen White’s portrayal of him in the upcoming biopic Deliver Me From Nowhere. The film, which chronicles the making of Springsteen’s seminal 1982 album Nebraska, features White stepping into the role of the legendary musician.
Speaking to Sirius XM’s E Street Radio, Springsteen, 75, admitted that while seeing someone play him was initially “a little weird,” he quickly warmed up to White’s performance. “Jeremy is such a terrific actor that you just fall right into it. He’s got an interpretation of me that I think the fans will deeply recognise, and he’s done a great job,” Springsteen shared.
The rocker also highlighted the strong ensemble cast, which includes Jeremy Strong and Odessa Young. “They cast the film beautifully, and I’ve had a lot of fun being on set when I can. Jeremy sings very well,” he added, expressing excitement for the project.
White, 33, previously opened up about the preparation that went into embodying Springsteen. In an interview with GQ, White emphasized his admiration for the rock icon’s grounded persona. “Bruce is a jeans and T-shirt kind of guy. It was exciting to know we had that in common,” he said.
White revealed that he’s been undergoing vocal and musical training with the help of an expert team. “I’ve had access to Bruce, and he’s been incredibly supportive. There’s also a treasure trove of footage – I’ve been down a lot of YouTube rabbit holes, studying his voice and mannerisms.”
