Mark Wahlberg is cast against type as an eccentric sociopath in director Mel Gibson's upcoming thriller titled Flight Risk. Its distributor Lionsgate dropped another trailer for the film, essentially a clip where Wahlberg's character disguises himself as a pilot flying a federal agent (Michelle Dockery) who transports a fugitive (Topher Grace). Seconds into the clip, Grace's fugitive figures out that Wahlberg's character is not who is purports himself to be. Gibson directed the film from a Jared Rosenberg screenplay.
According to Lionsgate's official description, when the characters "cross the Alaskan wilderness, tensions soar and trust is tested, as not everyone on board is who they seem."
The film reunites Gibson and Wahlberg after 2022's faith-based film Father Stu. It marks Gibson's directorial comeback after 2016's Best Picture Oscar nominated film Hacksaw Ridge. On the other hand, Dockery was most recently seen in Here, the Robert Zemeckis directorial featuring Forrest Gump stars Tom Hanks and Robin Wright. Grace, meanwhile, played a role in the psychological thriller Heretic, starring Hugh Grant as a psychopath.
Flight Risk is slated for a January 24 release in theatres.
