Spike Lee shared the first look at ASAP Rocky's character from his new film Highest 2 Lowest after ASAP was found not guilty in his assault trial. The film is a reinterpretation of Akira Kurosawa's High and Low, which in turn was adapted from King's Ransom, a 1959 novel by Ed McBain.
The film stars Denzel Washington in the lead, in his fifth collaboration with Spike Lee after Mo' Better Blues, Malcolm X, He Got Game, and Inside Man. The movie also stars Ilfenesh Hadera, Jeffrey Wright, Ice Spice, Dean Winters, and John Douglas Thompson.
High and Low is a 1963 movie with Akira Kurosawa directing and co-writing it with Ryuzo Kikushima, Hideo Oguni, and Eijiro Hisaita. It stars Toshiro Mifune, who is known for films with Kurosawa like Rashomon and Seven Samurai, as a businessman who is caught amidst a conspiracy.
Highest 2 Lowest is set to release in the cinemas through distributor A24, and it will be available on Apple TV+ after its theatrical run.
