Kevin Spacey retorts to Guy Pearce: 'You are not a victim'

The other day, we reported about Guy Pearce opening up about his uncomfortable experience working with Kevin Spacey during the making of their 1997 thriller LA Confidential. Talking on the podcast The Hollywood Reporter's Awards Chatter, Pearce stated that Spacey made inappropriate advances toward him and that the impact of what Spacey did only dawned on him when reports about similar incidents came out years later. Now, Spacey has come out strongly against his LA Confidential co-star.

Taking to X, the actor said in a video, "We worked together a long time ago. If I did something then that upset you, you could have reached out to me. We could have had that conversation, but instead, you’ve decided to speak to the press, who are now, of course, coming after me, because they would like to know what my response is to the things that you said. You really want to know what my response is? Grow up.”

The actor also stated that Pearce travelled to Georgia's Savannah city immediately after the shoot of LA Confidential "just to spend time with" him as he was working on Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. "Does that not fit into the victim narrative you have going?" said Spacey rhetorically.

The actor added that Pearce made the allegations after he has been "through hell and back," before ending his statement, saying, "Guy, you need to grow up. You are not a victim."

Guy Pearce is yet to make a further comment on the matter.
