Stranger Things season 5 Volume 1 might have had several twists and turns as Vecna prepares to upturn Hawkins, but fans are more excited to know the fate of Will Byers and Mike Wheeler's relationship which is yet to be revealed by Will. Sharing his thoughts on the same, Noah assured fans that the creators, Duffer Brothers, have done justice to his character.
Spilling beans on his experience playing Will, a queer kid raised in the '80s, in the critically acclaimed Netflix sci-fi series, Noah explained that it is a "real and authentic representation" of a person in the LGBTQ spectrum experiencing love, life and heartbreak during the time where this was considered a stigmatised topic. "I’ve dealt with that myself, like being in love with my best friend, and maybe they don’t love you back, or they feel differently. I’m not gonna spoil anything, but I think the Duffers close it really well," he said.
With several social media users shipping the duo to end up together at the end of the series, the term 'Byler' has become popularised on the internet. After season 4's car scene where Will emotionally breaks down after Mike doesn't reciprocate his feelings, Will stays slightly away from Mike to not get hurt further. But shows his love for him frequently, including the finale scene *spoiler* where Will channelises his inner Vecna energy to help his friends from being attacked by demigorgons. He breaks their limbs and kills them, resolute to defeat Vecna along with Eleven at the end of this season.
However, the theories have also been debated by fans as many suggest that Mike's love for Eleven remains strong and would make 'Byler' difficult.
Set in 1987, Stranger Things season 5 sees the lead cast uniting in a one final showdown against Vecna as he prepares to destroy Hawkins.
This eight-episode season sees the return of beloved characters played by including David Harbour (Jim Hopper), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin Henderson), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas Sinclair), Sadie Sink (Max Mayfield), Natalia Dyer (Nancy Wheeler), Charlie Heaton (Jonathan Byers), Joe Keery (Steve Harrington), Maya Hawke (Robin Buckley), Priah Ferguson (Erica Sinclair), Brett Gelman (Murray), Cara Buono (Karen Wheeler), Amybeth McNulty (Vickie), Nell Fisher (Holly Wheeler), Jake Connelly (Derek Turnbow), Alex Breaux (Lt. Akers), and Linda Hamilton (Dr. Kay) along with the main dreaded antagonist Jamie Campbell Bower as Vecna. In a surprise casting, it was also revealed at the end of Season 5 Volume 1 that actor Linnea Berthelsen had rejoined the series as Eleven's foster sister Kali Prasad after season 2.
With the first four episodes streaming on Netflix, the second volume, consisting of three episodes, will release on December 25. The finale episode is slated for the New Year's eve. It will be releasing in theatres simultaneously with its streaming premiere.
