Streamer Netflix has acquired the feature adaptation rights of the video game Kingmakers from Redemption Road Games. The film will be penned by Christopher MacBride.
Netflix is developing the project in partnership with 21 Laps and Story Kitchen. Though the plot of the movie is under wraps, the game is set in medieval Great Britain, where the players are supposed to go back in time in a bloody era, amidst modern weapons, to rewrite history and save the future.
MacBride broke into the scene with The Conspiracy (2012), and he wrote and directed the Dylan O' Brien and Maika Monroe starrer Flashback (2021). Some of his recent works as a writer were The Wolf and Face/Off 2, for which Adam Wingard was attached as director.
The upcoming film will be produced by Shawn Levy and Dan Levine for 21 Laps and Dmitri M Johnson, Michael Lawrence Gold, and Timothy L Stevenson of Story Kitchen.
