Even after three weeks of release, Zootopia 2 is making waves across the world in terms of box office numbers, crossing the coveted $1 billion mark. Disney's sequel to the beloved 2016 animated film has zoomed past the milestone in just 17 days of release and is the second film to breach the mark this year after the studio's live-action Lilo & Stitch. Further, it has also broken the record of achieving the $1 billion mark in the shortest amount of time among all animated Hollywood releases and all PG-rated films.

Zootopia 2 is the third movie this year to join the list of achievers in the list. China's animated blockbuster Ne Zha 2 has clocked in the highest grossing release of 2025 with $1.9 billion. It is also to be noted that only 13 animated films have crossed this landmark box office number, out of which 10 are Disney movies. Zootopia 2 marks the third consecutive Disney film to cross $1 billion following last year's Moana 2.

The sequel hit theatres nine years after the original and showcased its might at the box office by minting over $559 million during an extended five-day holiday weekend, making it the fourth-biggest worldwide debut in box office history.

Zootopia 2 sees the return of Ginnifer Goodwin as Judy Hopps and Jason Bateman as Nick Wilde, who are now official partners at the Zootopia Police Department (ZPD). During a raid on a smuggling ring, they discover that a snake might behind it and follow him only to understand that a bigger crisis awaits them and Gary De'Snake (Ke Huy Quan) as the family of lynxes plan on expanding Tundratown.

While Idris Elba, Shakira, Alan Tudyk, Nate Torrence, Don Lake, Bonnie Hunt, and Jenny Slate reprise their roles from the first film, the new entrants are Ke Huy Quan, Fortune Feimster, Andy Samberg, David Strathairn, Patrick Warburton, Quinta Brunson, and Danny Trejo, among many others.

Our CE review of the film read, "Zootopia 2 is a harmless, fun, adventure comedy that keeps you entertained long enough to forget that Disney can do way better, and hits the theatres a decade after the original, so you don’t instantaneously spot the stark dip in quality. At this point in time, Disney’s animation studio is a well-oiled machine with a century’s worth of R&D and storytelling experience. They know the exact amount of curves needed in a character’s design to make it instantly likeable."
