The other day, Prime Video dropped some pictures giving a first look at the characters in its upcoming series Young Sherlock, which stars Fiennes Tiffin in the role of Sherlock Holmes. The series has filmmaker Guy Ritchie serving as its executive producer and director, in addition to showrunner, executive producer and writer Matthew Parkhill. As the name implies, Young Sherlock looks at the first adventures of the titular private detective in what the makers describe as "an irreverent, action-laden mystery" and "an explosive reimagining" of the titular character's early days. The makers say that it has the charming and witty qualities of Ritchie's film adaptation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's iconic character.
Young Sherlock stars Tiffin as an unfiltered and raw youngster, who finds himself engulfed in an investigation into a murder at Oxford University that poses a threat to his freedom. In the series, Holmes' first case in the 1870s explores a conspiracy with international stakes that is expected to change his life for good. Here, Holmes is yet to become the most famous inhabitant of 221B Baker Street.
The series also stars Donal Finn as James Moriarty, Joseph Fiennes, Zine Tseng, Colin Firth, Natascha McElhone, and Max Irons. Prime Video is set to premiere Young Sherlock next year, although it is yet to have a specific release date.
