

The nine-year-long wait has bore fruit for Disney as Zootopia 2 is inches away from clinching the $1 billion mark at the box office. The cummulative total is now at $915.8 million worldwide which includes $695.3 million from the international box office. The film is a sequel to the hit 2016 film of the same name.
Directed by Jared Bush and Byron Howard, Zootopia 2 has broken multiple records at the box office already and currently stands as the third-highest-grossing Hollywood film of 2025. Theatres have been seeing increase in footfall with China being a major contributor with over $430.4 million. Japan followed suit, opening at $12.3 million. In its second weekend in theatres, the film earned $219 million from 52 major international markets. The top five markets for the film this week are China ($430.4 million), France ($27.3 million), Korea ($25.6 million), Mexico ($18.6 million) and Germany ($16.2 million). with this, Zootopia 2 has pushed Disney across the $5 billion mark globally for 2025.
Zootopia 2 sees the return of Ginnifer Goodwin as Judy Hopps and Jason Bateman as Nick Wilde, who are now official partners at the Zootopia Police Department (ZPD). During a raid on a smuggling ring, they discover that a snake might behind it and follow him only to understand that a bigger crisis awaits them and Gary De'Snake (Ke Huy Quan) as the family of lynxes plan on expanding Tundratown.
While Idris Elba, Shakira, Alan Tudyk, Nate Torrence, Don Lake, Bonnie Hunt, and Jenny Slate reprise their roles from the first film, the new entrants are Ke Huy Quan, Fortune Feimster, Andy Samberg, David Strathairn, Patrick Warburton, Quinta Brunson, and Danny Trejo, among many others.
