Jim Caviezel will be assuming the role of former Brazilian President Jair Bolsnaro in the biopic about the president, titled Dark Horse. The upcoming film will be written by Mario Frias, who was the Secretary of Culture in Bolsnaro's government.
Cyrus Nowraste is directing Dark Horse, which reportedly began filming three months ago. While the rest of the cast is yet to be announced, the film will be centred around Bolsnaro's campaign for presidency, in 2018.
Bolsnaro's son, Carlos, shared a photo on X, and wrote, "Jim Caviezel, thank you for everything. I know your legacy will continue to be admired by good people and envied by those who seek destruction - yet the message you imprint with every step leaves its mark on the world. For me, one of the greatest gifts I’ve received was the opportunity to live unimaginable moments by your side. Receive my sincere and grateful embrace. God, Jesus and Freedom!"
After rising to prominence by playing the role of Jesus Christ in Mel Gibson's The Passion of Christ (2004), he became well known for playing John Reese in Person of Interest. Returning to familiar ground, Caviezel will be seen as Herod in the biblical drama Zero AD.
