
Nina Dobrev and Tyler Hoechlin have joined the romantic comedy, It Happened One Summer. Virginia Gardner has also joined the film, reported Deadline.
The film is based on Tessa Bailey's 2021 novel of the same name. Peter Hutchings, who is known for directing The Hating Game (2021), is directing the film. Claude Dal Farra and Brian Keady are producing the film, which has the script written by Christina Mengert and Joseph Muszynski. Author Bailey, Lisa Berger, and Samantha Martin are serving as executive producers. BCDF Pictures and Frolic Media are backing the film.
Bailey's It Happened One Summer follows the story of Pippa Bellinger, a rich woman, whose stepfather stops giving her money after a mishap takes place in a party she attends. Pippa is forced to run a divebar, owned by her late father, in Westport, Washington, USA. She meets Brendan, a a gruff fisherman, who catches her heart. The book follows the relationship between the two.
Nina Dobrev is known for her role as Elena Gilbert in The Vampire Diaries. She also essayed the role of Katherine Pierce in the series. Tyler Hoechlin is known for playing Superman in CW's Superman and Lois, a role which he also played in Supergirl, The Flash, Arrow, Batwoman, and Legends of Tomorrow.
