Aatami Korpi (Jorma Tommila) is taking up arms yet again, this time for his family. The makers of the sequel to Sisu, Sisu: Road to Revenge, released the film's trailer on Wednesday.
The over two-minute glimpse shows Korpi straying into the 1946 Soviet territory, which is noticed by a USSR commander, who was responsible for the deaths of several Finnish civilians, including Korpi's family. Korpi unleashes hell once he learns this. The glimpse promises that the film will once again bring back the joys enjoyed in the first film, where one man fights against a mighty army. Sisu: Road to Revenge promises to be an action-packed movie, and since Korpi is out to avenge his family's killings, we may also see his emotional side, which was largely absent in the first film.
The sequel has Jalmari Helander returning as the writer and director. Starring alongside Tommila are Richard Brake and Stephen Lang.
The first film was set against the 1944 Lapland War, where Aatami Korpi (Jorma), a former Finnish commando turned gold prospector, discovers a rich deposit of gold in the wilderness, only to contend with the retreating Waffen-SS to have its possession. The Nazis step on a proverbial landmine while trying to snatch the gold by provoking Aatami, who is a relentless war machine. What ensues is a bloody, violent quest of Aatami to reclaim his gold. Sisu in Finnish means "unwavering determination", which is embodied by the male lead.
Petri Jokiranta is producing the film, with Gregory Ouanhon and Antonio Salas serving as deputy producers. Sisu 2 has Mika Orasmaa canning the shots, Anu Sallinen in the art department, Barry Donnelly in the sound department, and Roman Neso Laupmaa and Mikko Lopponen handling the stunts.
