
Netflix is adding more to the cast of Unaccustomed Earth, which is led by Freida Pinto. Pinto is known for her role in Danny Boyle's Oscar winning film, Slumdog Millionaire.
Indraneil Sengupta, Adi Roy, and Ilya Sundarsingh McKaig will be joining the cast of the drama, which is based on Jhumpa Lahiri's novel of the same name. Indraneil is known for his roles in Mulk, Puratawn, and recently alongside Kajol in Maa. He will play Jai in the series, with Adi Roy as as Kaushik, and McKaig as Herna.
Unaccustomed Earth is centred around the elite Indian American community in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA. The members of that community must take sides when a scandalous affair is come to light, between a married woman and her long-lost lover. At the centre of this community is Parul Chaudhury, who will be played by Pinto.
The series is created by John Wells, with Madhuri Shekar as the showrunner. Wells and Shekar serve as executive producers with Lahiri, Erica Saleh, Nisha Ganatra, Celia Costas, Erin Jontow, and Ritesh Batra. Batra will direct the first two episodes of the series, whos first season consists of eight episodes. Batra is known for directing films like The Lunchbox, Photograph, and Our Souls At Night. John Wells Productions and Warner Bros Television are backing the series.
