Actors Halle Berry and Djimon Hounsou are all set to star in the feature film Red Card. The thriller will be set across various places in North Africa and will be written by Nick Vallelonga, who won the Oscar for Best Screenplay for Green Book.

According to Deadline, the story of Red Card will centre around a forest ranger, Max Elmi. He is working with Amanda Bruckner, an FBI supervisor, and her team which also consists of Dane Harris, to fend off international trafficking rings. When Elmi's son, a gifted football player, is duped by a scheming sports agent and disappears into the world of North African crime, Elmi will stop at nothing to search for his son, from the Masaai villages in Kenya to Casablanca, Morocco. In Red Card, Hounsou will portray Max Elmi, and Berry will play Amanda Bruckner. The character of Dane Harris has not been cast yet.

Red Card will be directed by Joel Souza, who previously worked on the western Rust. It was on the sets of Rust that the ill-fated shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins took place, due to the firing of a live bullet from what was thought to be a prop revolver.

Souza directs, from a script written by George Gallo along with Vallelonga. The film will be produced by Ava Roosevelt, Robert Menzies, and Anjul Nigam. The latter worked on Rust, as a producer. Red Card will start production later this year.

Berry is an Oscar and Emmy winner, for her performances in the feature film Monster's Ball and the TV film Introducing Dorothy Dandridge. She will be seen alongside Chris Hemsworth in Crime 101, which is set to release in 2026. Meanwhile, Hounsou is known for his performances in Blood Diamond, Furious 7, Amistad, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Shazam. He was nominated for an Oscar for his performance in Blood Diamond.
