Ella McCay trailer: After helping British school students solve their intimate problems, and being a scientist in a land of colourful dolls, Emma Mackey's next adventure is navigating the complex dynamics of her family, in the upcoming film Ella McCay. The trailer for the film, which also stars Jamie Lee Curtis and Woody Harrelson, was released recently.

The story for the film will center around the eponymous, idealistic young woman, who has to juggle her work and family, filled with people she cares about. The trailer opens with Julie Kavner's character introducing herself as the narrator, who works with Ella McCay as her secretary for a long time. When Ella seeks her aunt Helen to help with a problem, her aunt tells her that another one waits, her estranged father. Ella's father is trying to seek her forgiveness, which goes awry. It is revealed that Ella is greiving her mother, and dealing with the complexities that her father, brother, and husband bring to her life. The rest of the trailer hints at a heartwarming story at its core.

With Mackey as Ella McCay, Curtis as Helen McCay, and Woody Harrelson as Ella's father, Eddie, the rest of the cast includes Jack Lowden, Kumail Nanjiani, Ayo Edebiri, Spike Fearn, Joey Brooks, and Albert Brooks, with Rebecca Hall as Ella's mother.

Ella McCay is written and directed by James L Brooks, who has previously directed films like Terms of Endearment, As Good As It Gets, and How Do You Know, all of which stars Jack Nicholson. For Terms of Endearment, Brooks won the Oscar for Best Film, Best Director, and Best Adapted Screenplay, with Nicholson winning his second Oscar. Brooks also has Spanglish and Broadcast News under his belt.

Brooks produces the film with Richard Sakai, Julie Ansull, and Jennifer Brooks. Ella McCay will release theatrically in India on December 12.
