We had earlier reported that The Bodyguard (1992) is gearing up for a new version with a fresh cast, directed by Sam Wrench, who helmed the the 2023 Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour concert film. Speculations are now rife that the actor-cum-media personality Kim Kardashian will play the lead in the romantic drama. While talks are being held for her casting, nothing is official yet.
Earlier, singer Taylor Swift was the top contender for this role due to her close relationship with the director. But sources have mentioned that this was a mere fan theory and that the script was designed for Kim. Reportedly, it is most likely to be a character-driven adaptation, rather than a musical film like the original.
Warner Bros CEOS Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy in an interview with Deadline earlier this month, revealed that Jonathan Abrams, the writer behind Clint Eastwood’s latest courtroom drama Juror #2, will pen the script for this updated iteration. Further details of the plot and extended cast are yet to be announced.
Kim Kardashian has dabbled in a bunch of films including Disaster Movie (2008), Deep in the Valley (2009), Ocean's 8 (2018) and Paw Patrol: The Movie (2021).
