
Earlier, we reported about Tom Cruise teaming up with filmmaker Alejandro Inarritu on the latter's first English directorial after 2016's The Revenant. The latest from the yet-to-be-titled project is that Emma D’Arcy of House of the Dragon-fame has joined the project, reports Deadline. Production on the film is underway at the UK's Pinewood Studios. Inarritu is directing it from a screenplay he has written alongside his Birdman collaborators Nicolas Giacobone and Alexander Dinelaris, besides Sabina Berman. According to the official logline, the film follows "the most powerful man in the world (who) embarks on a frantic mission to prove he is humanity’s saviour before the disaster he’s unleashed destroys everything."
The film's cast also includes Sandra Huller, John Goodman, Jesse Plemons, Sophie Wilde, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Riz Ahmed. D’Arcy received Golden Globe nominations for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Series – Drama for their role in the Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon in 2023 and 2025.
The Inarritu film marks a comeback to feature films for D’Arcy after 2021's Mothering Sunday.
