Drew Barrymore remembered her Batman Forever co-star Val Kilmer, who passed away the other day after suffering from pneumonia. Batman Forever filmmaker Joel Schumacher and Kilmer convinced Barrymore to star in the film, which proved one of her most popular roles in the 1990s. Speaking to Kevin Bacon about Kilmer on her daytime show, she said, "He was so nurturing and kind and safe, which was a very important thing for me."

The Bondsman star Bacon stated that such an approach was uncommon in the 1990s. Concurring with Bacon, Barrymore stated, "Yeah, I was like, ‘Nobody wants anything from me, they want things for me,’ which I thought was really interesting."

Barrymore's revelation about Kilmer is in stark contrast to the latter's perceived reputation in Hollywood as a difficult co-star to work with, because of his method acting approach.

Bacon, too, shared his experience working with Kilmer on Broadway back in 1983. " I just always look at that as one of the great experiences of my life and getting a chance to know him," Bacon stated.
