A 2027 release date has been set for the third instalment of the Spider-Verse films, Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse. The film, as announced at CinemaCon, will hit theatres on June 4, 2027.

The directors of the upcoming film, Bob Persichetti and Justin K Thompson, and the producer Phil Lord made the announcement at CinemaCon. “We know how important this franchise is to so many people around us. We just could not run it back. So, we decided we needed to take the time to make sure we got it just right.” They further revealed that the upcoming film will be a “massive finale” to the trilogy.

The upcoming film will conclude the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse trilogy, which began with the Oscar-winning animated film in 2018 and continued with Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse in 2023.

Phil Lord and Chris Miller, creators of the trilogy, have once again joined hands to script the film. Persichetti and Thompson have been instrumental in shaping the Spider-Verse franchise. Persichetti co-directed the critically acclaimed Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and executive produced Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. Thompson, meanwhile, served as production designer on the first film and later co-directed the second instalment alongside Joaquim Dos Santos and Kemp Powers.

In the original Spider-Verse film, Brooklyn teen Miles Morales discovers that "anyone can wear the mask" as he becomes the new Spider-Man, teaming up with Spider-People from parallel universes to save New York City. The sequel follows Miles and Spider-Woman Gwen Stacy as they traverse the multiverse, only to confront a new, formidable threat.

While details for the third instalment remain under wraps, it's expected to pit Miles Morales against an existential threat, promising an epic and action-packed adventure.

Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse is being produced by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, alongside Amy Pascal, Avi Arad, and Jinko Gotoh. Aditya Sood and Christina Steinberg serve as executive producers, with Jessica Berri as co-producer.
