
Within just a month of its release, Tim Burton's Beetlejuice Beetlejuice has crossed over $350 million at the global box office. This is the director's biggest global box office hit in a decade as the film's earnings overtook the lifetime gross of Burton's previous feature Dumbo.
With $250 million earned domestically and an additional $123 million from international markets, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice's total global earnings now reach approximately $373 million. In contrast, Dumbo wrapped up its global run in 2019 with a disappointing $353 million, despite a reported production budget of around $170 million.
The original film, released in 1988, earned $75 million globally, with a reported budget of $15 million.
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, which was long time in the making, stars an ensemble cast which includes Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, and Jenna Ortega as the lead actors. Monica Bellucci, Willem Dafoe, Justin Theroux, Arthur Conti, Burn Gorman, and Filipe Cates are the new additions to the cast of the Beetlejuice sequel. The original Beetlejuice (1988) also starred Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis, Jeffrey Jordan, and Catherine O'Hara, among others. The film has a script penned by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar.
The film is set more than three decades after the first Beetlejuice, it follows Lydia Deetz, now a mother, struggling to keep her family together in the wake of a loss as the specter Betelgeuse returns to haunt her. Upon release in Indian theatres on September 6, the film received positive reviews from audience as well as critics.
