Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, an adaptation of Tom King's 2022 comic book series of the same name, will see Matthias Schoenaerts play the role of the villain. The exact role essayed by actor, known for his roles in A Little Chaos (2014) and Rust and Bone (2012), is yet to be revealed.
Supergirl is the second film under the new DC Studios, headed by James Gunn and Peter Safran, and will hit the theatres on June 26, 2026. It is to be noted the first film under the new leadership, Superman: Legacy, is set to release on July 11, 2025, and Gunn himself directs the film.
Directed by Craig Gillespie, the film was adapted from the book by Ana Nogueira. Milly Alcock, who rose to fame as Rhaenyra Targaryen in the HBO series House of the Dragon, has been roped to play the eponymous character. Alcock will make her first appearance as Supergirl in James Gunn's Superman: Legacy, which has David Corenswet playing Superman, Rachel Brosnahan playing Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult playing Lex Luthor.
The studio Head Gunn stated last year that Supergirl would see the difference between Superman, who raised by loving parents on earth, and Supergirl, who raised on a rock in Kypton and has been witnessing brutal killings and deaths since childhood.
