Max announces new game show to celebrate 30 years of Friends

Thirty years have passed since the iconic show Friends premiered and everyone has been singing, 'So no one told you that it was gonna be this way' even as life throws curveballs at every juncture. As the sitcom touched the landmark milestone, Max announced that a new game show will be created based on the beloved series.

Titled Fast Friends, this four-part competition series aims to engage fans with trivia, puzzles, and games inspired by memorable moments from the iconic show, as per Deadline.

Produced by Warner Bros. Unscripted Television, filming for Fast Friends is slated to begin next month. The series will be shot at The Friends Experience: The One, located in New York City, an interactive venue that brings the show's settings to life.

The participants will have a walkthrough of all the nostalgic moments as they will compete across various iconic locations, including Rachel and Monica's apartment, Joey and Chandler's bachelor pad, and Central Perk. It will test their love for the show and the fastest team will win the coveted title of Ultimate Friends Fan.

This venture follows Warner Bros.'s trend of transforming classic intellectual properties into unscripted formats, following the success of projects like Harry Potter: Hogwarts Tournament of Houses and an upcoming baking competition based on JK Rowling's work.

The series is produced by an experienced team, including executive producers Dan Sacks, Bridgette Theriault, and Dan Norris, with Richard Burgio serving as co-executive producer.

Created by David Crane and Marta Kauffman, Friends aired on NBC from September 22, 1994, to May 6, 2004, lasting ten seasons. With an ensemble cast starring Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer, the show revolves around six friends in their 20s and early 30s who live in Manhattan, New York City. The show earned critical acclaim throughout its run and earned a cult status over the years. Max secured the streaming rights since 2021. The sitcom's cast members returned for Friends: The Reunion, a reunion special which was released on HBO Max on May 27, 2021.
