Nosferatu writer-director Robert Eggers dropped the first official poster for Bill Skarsgård's character from the film through an Instagram post the other day. The poster does not show the face of Count Orlok, also known as Nosferatu, the vampire based on Bram Stoker's Dracula. It only shows Orlok's hands protruding from his clothing, which hangs loosely from his shoulders. Eggers captioned the post, "Succumb to the Darkness."
The film tells the story of a vampire (Skarsgård) who grows a sense of infatuation with a woman (Lily-Rose Depp). In an interview with Esquire, Skarsgård said, "It is playing with a sexual fetish about the power of the monster and what that appeal has to you. Hopefully, you will get a little bit attracted by it and disgusted by your attraction at the same time.”
Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Corrin, Willem Dafoe, and Nicholas Hoult are also part of the cast. Nosferatu is slated for a December 25 release.
