Jodie Foster gets emotional in her Emmy acceptance speech for True Detective: Night Country

Actor Jodie Foster won her maiden Emmy for her role in the limited series True Detective: Night Country from the TV Academy on Sunday night. She played detective Liz Danvers in the anthology crime drama's fourth season.

With a record 19 nods, Night Country became the most nominated HBO series of the year at the Emmys.

After a quick recovery from becoming emotional after being presented the award by Lily Gladstone and Greta Lee, Foster called the show a "magical experience and it all comes from the top." She gave her thanks to Night Country creator Issa Lopez, her co-star Kali Reis, the crew and the Inuit people of the Alaska region. Speaking high of Inuits' magnanimity, she said, " “They just told us their stories and they allowed us to listen and that was just a blessing. It was love, love, love. And when you feel that, something amazing happens. It’s deep and wonderful and it’s older than this place and this time. That’s just the message, which is love and work equals art.”
