King of Kings, the upcoming faith-based animated film is all set for release next Easter. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Blue Harbor Entertainment will release the movie in theaters in the United States during next year's Easter (April 20) weekend.

Directed by Seong-ho ‘Jay’ Jang and produced by South Korea-based animation house Mofac Animation, the film is inspired by a posthumously published short story The Life of Our Lord from literary maestro Charles Dickens, focusing on the life and times of Christ.

The ensemble voice cast includes Oscar Isaac who voices Jesus and Kenneth Branagh who gives life to Dickens.

Pierce Brosnan, known for his roles in The Out-Laws and HBO’s The Great Lillian Hall, will voice the biblical figure Pontius Pilate, while Mark Hamill, acclaimed for his role as Luke Skywalker, will take on the character of King Herod, who ordered the Massacre of the Innocents.

Academy Award winner Ben Kingsley is set to portray High Priest Caiaphas, who presided over the Sanhedrin trial of Jesus and Forest Whitaker plays apostle Peter. Uma Thurman and Roman Griffin Davis also voice star in the film.

King of Kings revolves around Charles Dickens (Kenneth Branagh) and his son, Walter. A multi-dimensional opening allows them to go back to Jesus' time. According to the logline, "The master storyteller engages his youngest son’s vivid imagination with the fascinating life of Jesus, his well-known trials and tribulations, and his notable colleagues and foes.”

Jang collaborated with Rob Edwards (The Princess and the Frog) on writing King of Kings. Anfernee Kim (Last Knights) is the producer, while voice and casting director Jamie Thomason (Spirited Away) and veteran filmmaking executive Andrew Mann (Gold) are executive producers.
