Earlier, we reported that Adam Sandler's Happy Gilmore 2 has commenced production, and that Sandler reprises his character from the 1996 original. The latest development is that Bad Bunny has joined the cast of the Happy Gilmore sequel, directed by Kyle Newacheck. The film reunites Sandler with his Murder Mystery director Newacheck.
The 1996 film Happy Gilmore, directed by Dennis Dugan, stars Adam Sandler in the titular role. It tells the story of an unsuccessful ice hockey player who discovers a newfound talent for golf and partakes in a golf tournament to save his grandmother's home from foreclosure.
Christopher McDonald and Julie Bowen also return for the sequel as Happy's nemesis Shoot McGavin and love interest Virginia Venit, respectively.
Besides teasing a cameo from footballer Travis Kelce, Sandler said in a recent interview that director and screenwriter Benny Safdie also plays a key role in Happy Gilmore 2. The film reunites Safdie with his Uncut Gems co-star Sandler. Besides acting in the film, Sandler serves as its cowriter alongside Tim Herlihy.
Bad Bunny's upcoming projects also include Caught Stealing, with director Darren Aronofsky.
