Actor-singer Selena Gomez recently revealed a personal story about her life and health and disclosed that she can't have children due to medical issues.

Gomez, who had a kidney transplant in 2017 after struggling with lupus for years, opened up about her inability to get pregnant for the first time.

"I haven’t ever said this, but I unfortunately can’t carry my own children. I have a lot of medical issues that would put my life and the baby’s in jeopardy. That was something I had to grieve for a while," Gomez said.

Back in 2022, the Disney star had also revealed to Rolling Stone about her bipolar disorder diagnosis. She said that she needed to remain on two particular medications she takes for bipolar disorder could possibly leave her unable to have a safe pregnancy.

The Only Murders In the Building actor had said that she had planned to start a family by the time she turned 35 and that she is considering surrogacy or adoption. Gomez said that while it was difficult for her to accept this initially, she has made peace with it now. "It's not necessarily the way I envisioned it. I thought it would happen the way it happens for everyone," she said and added, "I’m in a much better place with that. I find it a blessing that there are wonderful people willing to do surrogacy or adoption, which are both huge possibilities for me."

"It made me really thankful for the other outlets for people who are dying to be moms. I’m one of those people. I’m excited for what that journey will look like, but it’ll look a little different. At the end of the day, I don’t care. It’ll be mine. It’ll be my baby."

On the work front, Selena Gomez can be currently seen in the fourth season of Only Murders In The Building as Mabel Mora. In films, she was last seen in Jacques Audiard's French musical crime comedy film Emilia Pérez. Up next, she will be seen in Wizards Beyond Waverly Place which is a spin-off and sequel to Wizards of Waverly Place.
