George Clooney’s banner Smokehouse Pictures and Warner Bros are developing Ocean’s 14, the fifth instalment in the popular heist film franchise. The project is taking a step forward, with reports hinting at the potential involvement of filmmaker Edward Berger as well as the original franchise's stars George Clooney and Brad Pitt. Other notable actors from the franchise such as Casey Affleck and Matt Damon are also expected to join Pitt and Clooney on the project.

The Ocean's films are a series of heist films featuring a charismatic team of thieves planning and executing elaborate heists with high stakes and stylish execution. The third film in the franchise, Ocean's Thirteen, released in 2007 and also stars Al Pacino, Don Cheadle, and Andy Garcia, among others. On the other hand, the fourth one, Ocean's 8, features an all-female principal cast, including Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, and Anne Hathaway, playing criminals.

Berger’s prospective involvement with the project is interesting as his existing filmography, including such titles as All Quiet on the Western Front and Conclave, lacks such a film. Further, if he is tapped for the project, it would be the first Ocean's film without director Steven Soderbergh.
