With days to go for the premiere of Nightbitch, the dark comedy film she headlines, Amy Adams has signed an agreement to star in and produce Lazy Susans. The comedy film is in the works at 20th Century Studios. Academy Award nominees Stan Chervin and Annie Mumolo are attached as screenwriters.
The film is based on the story of the Boston-based rock music band, named The Lazy Susans, formed by a group of mothers amid the coronavirus epidemic. Producers Jack Leslie and Vivek J Tiwary of TEG+ secured the rights to set the film up based on the article 'For Those Moms About to Rock' on Boston Magazine. Adams will also produce the film alongside Stacy O’Neil through their banner, Bond Group Entertainment.
Adams' upcoming project is Nightbitch, an adaptation of Rachel Yoder's eponymous book, the Taika Waititi directorial Klara and the Sun, and At the Sea opposite Brett Goldstein and Murray Bartlett.
Mumolo earned an Academy Award nomination for the screenplay of Bridesmaids, which also stars her opposite Kristen Wiig. On the other hand, Chervin got an Oscar nod for the contributions he made to the plot of the Brad Pitt starrer Moneyball.
