Prime Video unveiled the trailer to their three-part British television series, A Very Royal Scandal, on Wednesday. Written by Jeremy Brock and directed by Julian Jarrold, the series stars Ruth Wilson and Michael Sheen in lead roles.
The trailer shows a dramatised account of Emily Maitlis' (Wilson) personal and professional experiences that culminated in her groundbreaking 2019 BBC Newsnight interview with Prince Andrew (Sheen). This is the second series about the real-life story after Netflix's Scoop.
A Very Royal Scandal will also feature Alex Jennings as Sir Edward Young, Joanna Scanlan as Amanda Thirsk, Éanna Hardwicke as Stewart MacLean, and Thomas Arnold as Head Interview Cameraman.
A Very Royal Scandal is the spiritual sequel to A Very English Scandal (2018) and A Very British Scandal (2021). While the former revolved around the Thorpe affair, the latter told the story of the Argyll divorce. Both the series were produces for Amazon Studios by Blueprint Pictures.
A Very Royal Scandal is also produced by Blueprint Pictures for Amazon Studios. Executive producers are Emily Maitlis, Karen Thrussell, Graham Broadbent, Pete Czernin, Diarmuid McKeown, Brock and Jarrold.
A Very Royal Scandal will premiere on Prime Video on September 19.
